about

Erotic and enigmatic, this poem inspired lyrical melodies over a 5/4 meter.

Paralelepípedos
music by Fernando Brandão
lyrics by Pedro Lago

O corpo esvazia
e busca mais cor.
Sentir a pele roçar
na palma ressecada
e úmida após
libertar-se do bolso.

Ela dança

Motivo de calores.
Odor oculto que guarda
debaixo da saia rasgada.

A unha puxa, clama, traz
o peso para si e respira.

Ela foge

O tumulto surge e traz
mais desejos.

Agora rumo ao nada.

Lá, a carne treme novamente.
Olhos pedintes (talvez mentissem)
se abriam para o corpo
cansado das horas.

Tarde para saber

E aquele frio, o rádio cuspindo violinos
e a garganta seca.

Cobblestones
music by Fernando Brandão
lyrics by Pedro Lago

The body empties out
and searches for more color.
One feels the skin rubbing
on the dried palm,
humid, after
freeing itself from the pocket.

It dances.

Reasons for heating up.
Hidden scent that guards
beneath the torn skirt.

The fingernail pulls, claims, brings
the weight on itself and breathes.

It escapes.

Turmoil arises and brings
more desires.

Now, toward nothing.

There, the flesh trembles again.
Begging eyes (they might be lying),
open themselves to the body,
tired from the hours.

Too late to know

And that chill, the radio spitting violins,
and the dried throat
