After composing the first eight songs, I felt like writing a lighter tune with a xote as the groove. Words began to pop into my head--all verses with rhymes ending in "em"--and the melody eventually emerged.
As I continued to write the story, it somehow connected with a trip I took to Santarém and Belém, in the state of Pará in northern Brazil, when I was in my 20s.

Vem
music and lyrics by Fernando Brandão
A lua olhando, dançamos tão bem
Nessa viagem, o sentimento vem

Come
music and lyrics by Fernando Brandão
What is the taste desire has
When it passes by, laughing with disdain
And looks at me like a Joe-nobody
You don’t even know that I care for you
Don’t be afraid, get off this train
That does not whistle, and does not stop anywhere
You are stuck going nowhere
Come to my boat, I will take your further on
Between two rivers, around Santarém
The moon watching us, we dance so well
During this journey, love will come
And in a sweet motion we get to Belém
My heart beating past one hundred
Steals a kiss from you, and your eyes too
You give in, with no ifs, ands or buts
And I catch you laughing like a baby
